I thought the same when I first started really tracking my cycle day by day.  For me that turns out to be day 1 of my cycle as long as I see it when I wipe.
For the start of my cycle is such a light bleed by the time it makes its exit its brownish pink.

Could be. I'm researching this for myself as we speak bc I'm also 12dpo and am noticing brown-tinged cm this afternoon. I'm reading a mixed bag of people that ended up getting bfps and others that AF started. I'm trying to remain positive for both of us!
