Is labor coming?

The past week I’ve been passing little pieces of my mucus plug but I haven’t thought much about it. I went to the doctor yesterday and she told me I was 3cm dilated but my cervix was still high and thick. This morning I went to the bathroom and when I wiped it was a long thick string of stuff and it had blood at the end. Should I be expecting labor soon or will it still be a while? I’m super nervous with my other I was induced and never dilated on my own.
