38+5 Labour symptoms thread?

Rhiannon • \\Mama to Oscar & Amelia 💙 Wife to Gerard//

This is the longest I’ve ever been pregnant.

My first I had at 37+3 & he weighed exactly 8lbs.

So I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever. 😩

My body is stretched even further which I can honestly say I thought wasn’t even possible.

I’m super excited to find out the gender and see how my son reacts but I’m also nervous to see what life is like when I become a mum of 2 instead of just one. My biggest worry is having one child that “needs” me 90% of the time and the other that doesn’t need but just “wants” me. I REALLY don’t want either of them to feel neglected or like I don’t love them. Ugh. I’m actually struggling even trying to process the thought. Let alone actually do it.

Hats off to all you mums who have like multiple kids and still manage to equally divide your time.

Annnnyway. It’s obviously inevitable. So I just have to work it out when he/she arrives.

Labour symptoms have been.

- over a week of BH contractions every 5-10 minutes lasting an inconsistent amount of time. (At first I thought I was actually going into labour & then. I didn’t, the BH contractions haven’t stopped but they haven’t got more intense either)

- TMI -day 1&2 of having BH I was also having loose bowel movement & vomiting which have subsided. ( I’m assuming it was a stomach flu)

- painful cramps in my upper thighs when active.

- lower back aching.

- TMI- may have lost a bit of my mucus plug but unsure as it was only a small amount and haven’t lost any since.

- last night I had period type cramps. Took some Panadol. Went to bed thinking I MAY wake up in labour.

Didn’t. Haha.

So yeah. They’re my Symptoms. Hoping they mean my body is preparing itself for go time. But who really knows.

Midwife doesn’t do cervical checks unless you request them. - which is eh. Because I’ve heard can be dialated for weeks before go time, or not at all and then a 10 in minutes. So 🤷🏻‍♀️ a cervical check won’t really tell me a lot.

Feel free to add your own symptoms and we can compare. :)
