Hospital/ birth?

Question

Did you have visitors after you gave birth? I don’t think I actually want any while I’m in the hospital but every time talking to someone they all mention to keep them updated so they can come. I just feel like that’s my time to bond w the baby (& very immediate family of course) and I don’t want to feel smothered and have all the germs. I’m not sure yet though, could just be my nerves

No one came to see me after the birth, including my mother who was adamant she needed to be there. Personally, I would rather they come at the hospital where I don’t have to worry about playing hostess, and cleaning and feeding people. Plus you have nurses that will run people out for you. My hospital has a designated nap time when visitors are sent away so you can rest. To me, having them at the hospital seems more manageable than having extra people at the house where I’m already trying to keep tabs on the too many people who live there anyway. But I think you need to do what works best for your family.

I didn't have any visitors till my baby was three weeks old. I didn't want to have to deal with people while I was bleeding and in pain, it would put too much stress on me. My husband is also in the Army so we don't have any family or friends living near us. So when people do come to visit they end up staying for a few days.

I had visitors the day after my labor. I just wanted to show my son. And of course I was so proud of myself. I was extremely tired but my mom and my in laws came to tge hospital just for a couple hours. It was awesome! Specially to hear the compliments. It made me feel way better

You don’t have to have visitors at all. That’s your choice. For me I had a easy labor and delivery and it was only 9 hours start to finish. I didn’t mind people coming to visit at all. But some people would prefer to wait until they are home and settled before visits come and if that’s what you want and what you choose to do thats fine. But you do need to voice that to everyone just so they are clear on your wishes. They can’t possibly know that you don’t want visits unless you tell them.

this is gonna differ for everyone.  I had my in-laws visiting before i had been cleaned up and moved from the delivery room to recovery and I didn't mind, but I'm also close with our family and we're all tightknit

Honestly the only visitors I had were my immediate family obviously my husband, mom, dad, sister, her bf. We were there for a week so on about day 4 my long time family friend and her daughter came up which I’ve known pretty much my whole life but she asked me about 4 times if I was sure I wanted her to come of course I said yes. That was it no one else I let come. Go with you gut do what’s best for your family, screw what others say this is your baby no one else’s! 😘

I had visitors and it was so special to see my nieces and nephew bond with their new cousin. It was October and flu season so I was cautious and made sure they washed their hands and had a blanket between them. They all came at once (within a few hours) so it was a one and done type deal. Then I napped. I would recommend having no one come or everyone come at once so you only have to entertain once and then you can rest and bond.

I absolutely agree and I don’t want any visitors either! Apart from obviously my Mum and my children! I am getting stressed at the thought of it! I’m
Going to text everyone on the evening of my c-section and announce her arrival and photo and then say she will look forward to meeting everyone once we’ve recovered a bit and are home 🏡 but even then I want to wait 2 weeks 🙈
