Outbreak?

I’ve been on Valtrex for 3 weeks now if not 4. My initial outbreak is gone but I’m burning again in the same spot and it feels weird. Can you have an outbreak while taking the medication? I took 2 pills a day for 5 days and have took 1 pill a day since. I’ve only ever had one outbreak so I’m not sure what to expect..

I take valtrex to get a handle on my cold sores. I have bad anxiety and stress so it’s my main trigger so I take the pill twice a day when I’m going through something and 1 even when I’m fine. But I did recently get a cold sore even though I was taking the valtrex, but that could’ve easily been due to the fact that i just got the new prescription a day and a half before, so I probably sta it too late. So, valtrex may not completely suppress but it does cut down healing time and the severity by a lot.
