My friend and I were talking about this. She said we went out with this guy once and he made her split the bill with him on their first date so she stopped talking to him lol. I personally don’t care either way

Eh... not into the going Dutch thing. That says friendship to me. But I also wouldn’t go on a first date with someone I didn’t know.  Like if I were doing online dating I’d suggest we just meet in person for coffee or something and if we hit it off he could ask me out on a date. I’ve only dated one guy who ever wanted to go Dutch, he was the biggest douche ever, so if that’s a sign 🤷‍♀️. My SO has pretty much always paid for things... now we live together have two kids and I basically pay all our bills 😂. I don’t see why people care that much, its just more traditional for the man to pay for dates, the idea is that the man courts the woman. It has nothing to do with equality. And equality isn’t a tit for tat, it’s partners working together, common goals, one isn’t in control of the other. Women tend to do more than an equal share of housework, childrearing etc. I think the only time it’s an issue is when a girl accepts dates she isn’t interested in to get “free things”.

Well, I'm not a gold digger.. so.. No, that alone would not prevent me from seeing that person further.
I can't even remember who paid the first time I went out with my now husband.
I know while we dated we both got the check a lot.
Nowx it's all the same money since we share expenses and income.. so.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Me and my husband often split the check or switched off who paid when we were dating. I was the first woman he ever dated who offered to pay for anything. Blew his mind. 😂

Depends. If they insisted we go out to eat then I would expect them to pay. I always do a laid back first date like coffee or dog park with my pup so there isn't the awkwardness of the bill but I never expect a guy to pay for everything. My bf makes 4x what I make but we still split everything 50/50 because it's a partnership and I want to feel like I'm equal in the relationship and responsibility.

I wouldn’t care. I’d actually probably be impressed. Like I’m in my early 20s, am a college student who still lives at home and live in Orange County by the beach, so I would just assume he was in the same financial boat as me.🤷‍♀️ Like my bf works more than me, so he generally pays for more, but sometimes we split or i pay. We’re partners in our relationship and it honestly feels good when I can pay for him due to all he does for me. Like I can’t wait to be done with school, so that I can contribute more.
