“I don’t want to be around you”
Some of the most hurtful things my father has said. Tonight it was that one, “I don’t want to be around you.” Because I’m pregnant and I’m not married.
When I was younger, there was a lot of:
“I love your mother more than all you kids.”
“Your spouse always comes before your children.”
“Do you really need to eat that?”
“Chloe, you’ve gained so much weight.”
“I have nothing to say to you.”
“You’ve really disappointed me.”
“You weren’t raised that way.”
“You know better.”
But what I REALLY can’t decide which is worse, is that when he found out I was pregnant he didn’t talk to me for over a week. (I don’t live at home by the way.) I would be in his house, talking to my mom or watching tv with her or whatever. And I would be 2 feet from him and he wouldn’t even look at me. So I’m not sure which was worse. The silent treatment, or not shutting his mouth when he should have.
