When living with your SO, how should the bills be paid?

Lol this is random but I was just curious how everyone else does it. So when you live with your SO, did you pay the bills like whoever makes more money pays more in bills? Or did you split the bills 50/50 regardless of how much either of you made? If this question makes sense I didn’t know how to word it 😂

We always put our money together. It's like " Okay, we have this much together , we're gonna take away this much to pay this & that.. " You get me ? we don't " split " the bills.

My man likes to pay the bills on his own but if needed my money would be put jn too. He likes to say me check is for the fun stuff .

We operate like a single unit. All the money is both of ours. All the bills are both of ours. I make more money, so when he spends on himself he tends to feel guilty since I don’t tend to do that... I’m more likely to spend on the kids or something for the house. We discuss any “real” spending. We allow each other the autonomy to buy what we feel we need without permission. We don’t micromanage each other. I give him the money he makes sure it goes where it needs to.

I make almost double what my husband makes so I pay more in bills. I have my bills and he has his though. We pay separately. We dont have a joint account I don’t see the point. It’s worked for us for five years so no point in changing it now. So for example I make 3600 after taxes each month and he makes 1920. I pay the mortgage, my car payment, my car insurance, my cell, health insurance for me and baby and groceries. He pays his car payment, his car insurance, his cell phone, the internet and tv for the house and the electric bill. We both have almost the same amount of money left over after bills every month. This is not including gas or any extra things like Netflix, the extra stop for coffee occasionally and such obviously.

I dont work so hes obviously paid everything himself. But if I did, I think we would just combine our incomes and pay everything together. It's not "his" money or "my" money. Its OUR money.

We just share everything. Everything is OURS! I have my own personal account that we decided to keep and then we have a joint. I manage the money and budget. The money in the joint is the spending money. Money in my account is for bills. It’s nice to keep them separated but I can pull and add from either account with the click of a button.

We’ve always split every basic bill. My income has quadrupled since meeting him but even when I was making less, I paid the fair share of half because I was indulging in half 🤷‍♀️ We split the mortgage but I bought the house because I had more in savings. He’s paying off student debt and I have none so I’m just able to save easier than him.

His check goes into my account (that he has access to) and we pay the bills from one account. No splitting or 50/50. We don’t look at that. We look at the total and pay what needs to be paid.

Depends on who makes more in my opinion. My salary is more than double that of my spouse, so I pay more bills. I can't expect him to pay half our mortgage when that would be more than half his paycheck alone.
