Brown spotting with cramping

I am 10 weeks today- woke up with a small amount of brown spotting that has continued throughout the day on and off. This afternoon I developed some mild to moderate cramping and lower back pain. I panicked and the doctor had me come in. Baby's heart beat and movement were visible on the pocket ultrasound so she said to monitor everything and try not to worry. I'm scheduled to go back Friday but desperately need some peace of mind to get through until then. Anyone have experience with this?

Update- had my normal appointment and baby is doing great :) spotting has almost completely stopped and Dr. Said my pelvic exam showed nothing but the small amount of old blood- everything else looks good :) I am feeling very relieved!
