FTM easy birth story!
I’m a FTM and was filling expecting for not only my baby to push the limits on coming near or after his due date, but also expected to be in labor forever was well.
I started having cervical checks at 36 weeks. At 36 weeks I was 1.5 centimeters and 50% effaced. At 37 weeks I was 3 centimeters and 70% effaced. At 37 + 5 I thought my water had a slow drip so we went to the hospital to have it checked. When they hooked me up to the monitor I was having contractions every 4 or so minutes, but I couldn’t feel them. My pain was a 0. The labs came back negative and since I was still only 3 centimeters dilated they sent me home. Well through the night I kept having easy contractions, I called them Braxton Hicks even though I was told they were not that. I started having some period like back pain, but still no more than a 1 on the pain scale. I decided to do all the ways in the book to speed up labor ( I think the fact I did spinning up until the day before I gave birth, and wall sits in between contractions is what made me progress). That night I asked my friend who is an L&D nurse to do a cervix check on me to see if I had progressed. I had! I was 4.5 centimeters and 80% effaced, with contractions 2 min apart (my pain was still a 1, light period like pain). Even though my pain wasn’t bad. We decided to head to the hospital. My doctor decided to break my water to really get things going. He broken my water at 11:30 PM. BOOM. Que painful contractions. By 1:30 I was waiting on an epidural and was in the worst pain ever, and felt like I was going to poo the bed. Nurse checked, I was at 9.5 centimeters. 1:40 Got the epidural just in time to push. 1:45 the doctor walks in, checks my cervix, feels baby’s head getting ready to come out. 1:50 I was told to start pushing. 2:05 our son was born into the world! I was so worried about everything that could go wrong, and everything ended up being perfect.
