I went in for my weekly check on my due date 04/04 at 8:30 am. In the waiting room I felt a weird wet sensation so I went to the bathroom and my water had leaked. They got me into a room and asked I wanted to be checked. Water continued to leak out clear so I said no. By now my pants were wet! Midwife said I could go in and get a NST or go walk until contraction’s started so we opted to go home. I took a shower and a great gush of water broke. I walked around the house, got things straightened up and killed time. We got lunch and more water gushed out so I kept walking until I started to feel contractions around 2 pm. Once they got to 2 minutes apart while walking and uncomfortable we called the midwife and went in. Contractions were about 2 minutes apart standing up and 5 minutes apart sitting but still just uncomfortable. We got to the hospital around 3 with my 2 and 4 year old and waited for their grandparents to come get them. They showed up at 4 and my husband and father took them for a walk while my mom walked a few laps with me. Contractions were staring to hurt more and were about a minute apart. 530 my mom went out to be with the kids and my husband came to be with me. I decided to try the tub to labor in to see if it would take the edge off. I was in the tub for about an hour after being given strict instructions from my wonderful nurse to ring if I felt pressure. Contractions hurt pretty bad but rocking on all fours was great relief and around 615 I wanted to head back to my room so as not to be rushed if I did feel pressure. My husband rang the button for the nurse but nothing happened. We waited and he rang the button again. Still no one came. At about 625 I felt my body starting to push so I told my husband to quick get someone. They all dashed in and told me not to push. Haha yeah right!!! My body had a different agenda. I pushed once, the midwife checked me for the first time and I was 10cm. They got me standing out of the water and my body pushed again all the while my nurse is telling me to breath and not push. Impossible. They wrapped me in blankets, wheeled me to my bed and helped me up. I was on all fours waiting for the squatting bar to be installed when I pushed again and felt the head crowning. No one seemed to notice so I’m trying to get my midwives attention as my body pushes again. She grabs my baby boy just as his head is out and with one more push he slides out screaming at 6:33 pm. 4 hours of laboring and only a handful of pushes later my beautiful 8 pound 1.2 ounce baby is out! I didn’t think he’d come so fast after my two previous 6 and 12 hour labors but praise the Lord he did!
