My little boy is here!
I have had an uneventful, easy, non sick filled pregnancy with my first baby! When I first found out I was pregnant, I had a feeling that it would be a boy and he would be born April 5th or 6th. The first ultrasound he was measuring small and they set my due date as April 11th. My second ultrasound revealed he was a boy and anatomy was perfect! We continued with a perfect pregnancy! I went to my 37w5d check in and had my first cervical check - I was curious since I was a first time mom! I was 3 cm and 50% effaced and he was head down but floating above pelvis. At my 38w5d check up I was up to 4 cm and 75% effaced and still head down! Was told at both appointments that he would probably come this week sometime! I had felt no contractions up until this point and we were doing well! I woke up this morning, at 4:50am, to feeling a pop and fish. I first thought I peed myself and was second guessing the popping feel! Then I realized I had just got up to use bathroom at 4 am and the fluid just kept coming. I waddled from my couch to bedroom and woke my husband up and told him my water had broken... 10 minutes later contractions started and I just wanted to sit on the toilet. I finally got to the point where I could get off and got in shower to rinse off while hubby was packing the car. We finished up at home and drove my 30 minute to the hospital in about 15 minutes ( thanks to no 5:30am traffic!!). Got to hospital and made it to L&D and was quickly taken to a room, nurse checked me and said I was 9.5cm already and told me not to push. She continued to hold my baby in with her hand- not mad as it kinda helped ease some pain. Obviously there was no time for pain meds and I just had to breath through and be vocal. The Dr was in route and took about 15 minutes to get there, he checked me right away and realized baby boy was a presenting with his butt at this point and quickly got me to OR, my body was pushing on its own and I couldn’t stop. They advised they would try a spinal but may need to put me to sleep- I advised to just put me to sleep as things were happening quickly and I couldn’t control anything at this point. Unfortunately hubby could t go because I ultimately was put to sleep. But 2 hours and 8 minutes after my water broke, Camden Walker was born at 6:58 am. We thought he would be bigger than the 7lbs 10oz birth weight and length of 20.5”. He had ingested some meconium but otherwise came out perfect! I met him at 8:30 AM in my recovery room and I have been attached since! My hospital requires mom to have a 2 hour skim to skin period and then other people can handle. Hubby and I are so in love and have had a filled room of people that love us all day ( I didn’t mind the company while hubby left to pick up food and check on Camden’s 3 canine brothers at home!). This has been my life long dream and today I became the mom I’ve always desired to be!
