Anyone who does Baby Led Weaning? I have some questions

I’m interested in BLW. I was originally planning to make my own purées, but I’ve heard people love BLW and thought I’d look in to it more. 
Could I start by giving purées for 6-8 months and then start BLW foods? I’m so afraid of baby choking!

The proper way to do BLW is to introduce solid foods from the start. Purees to solids is just traditional weaning.

You can do whatever you want, but that wouldn’t be considered BLW and therefore you wouldn’t get the benefits of it. My daughter never choked; kids have a great gag reflex and they bring anything up that they can’t handle, as long as you prepare for correctly and supervise all eating.

Is there recommended foods to start with? I know they can do anything except honey before age 1. But I didn’t know if maybe it’s better to start with something softer?
