Should I have a shower/sprinkle?

So I’m having my second child - my first girl. This is also my now husbands first child.
My mom said I’ve already had a child so it’s super tacky and greedy of me to have a shower celebrating my second child. My MIL said she’d love if we had one because she obviously wasn’t around for my first child’s and thinks you should have a shower every time to celebrate every life.
I don’t have a ton of friends so it would be small and just a celebration of our growing family - we don’t really want gifts or anything.
I’m really torn because my mom is making me feel awful and self- conscious for wanting to celebrate our little girl.

I think every child deserves to be celebrated with a baby shower or “sprinkle”. It’s not tacky or greedy especially if this is your first girl and your partners first baby. He should be able to experience a baby shower. I’m having a shower for this pregnancy even though I already have a daughter since this time I’m having a boy.

This is my third pregnancy. I’m hoping to have a celebration with my friends but I’m not looking for anybody else to host it or anything. It’s just for fun.

I’d say if it’s your first of a sex, it’s not tacky to do a baby shower...if it was your second girl it’d be reasonable to think that you still have stuff left over and didn’t need new items.

Have your MIL throw a co-Ed shower. That way she gets to be involved and your husband gets to celebrate. It’s not tacky, because you’re not throwing it. You could also exclude registry info from the invitation and people will ask if they want it.

Screw your mom. Celebrate! If youre worried about seeming greedy just tell people gifts arent expected on the invitations. 
I agree that every baby should be celebrated and most parents arent throwing the party just to fish for gifts. If people are feeling generous they'll get you clothes anyway.

I’m wondering this also. I probably will, especially if my twins are girls. I have 1 boy and have a lot of his clothes and stuff saved but with twins, it would be nice to even get some diapers or something. But especially if they’re girls.. I’m gonna need a lot. Still undecided bc I don’t really have friends either 😂 and I’m not working anymore so we’ll see. If I do it’d just be like a small get together like you said. I don’t think it’s tacky. All babies are worth celebrating.
