Question for parents with uncircumcised babies 👶🏼

My son is not circumcised and he is really the first man in our family not circumcised as my husband is. We have got some conflicting advice on how to care and clean an uncircumcised penis. We have always just washed it like you would a circumcised penis, which I believe is correct and am not planning to change until our pediatrician tells us otherwise. Some of our relatives have mentioned that at a certain point we need to clean under the fore skin somehow. He is only 8 months old and I have not done this. At what age did you start having to do this? Our pediatrician told us when he was newborn just to wash the area like you would a circumcised penis. I’m planning to ask him at the next appointment again to confirm, but was just curious what other moms and dads have done with uncircumcised babies.
