AM I OVERREACTING?!

So to make a long story short, I was showing my boyfriend something my cousin had tagged me in on Instagram and I had showed my boyfriend. I had realized that we didn’t follow each other on instagram... so I was like “babe you should follow me on ig” ... he said “no, I don’t think that’s a  good idea because I know how I am ... I mean there isn’t anything on my instagram to hide or anything” . I didn’t say nothing back because I didn’t want to overreact but it bothers me that he said that. How can someone that wants to marry me and have a family with me not think its a good idea for us to follower each other on instagram???

So I’d be annoyed too but what I got from it was he gets upset easily if he sees guys like your pics, or the type of pictures you’re posting and he feels he’d be better off not getting upset over the little petty stuff. Just my opinion though

I guess the question I'd ask is this - is social media really worth fighting over? Personally I don't have it so I don't see what the big fuss is. If you two are happy together that is really all that matters.

I don't really know since social media isn't really a big part of either of our lives. We are friends on Facebook, but haven't even bothered adding each other as in a relationship 9 years later, I have insta, he has Twitter and we don't look at each other's feeds unless we physically show the other something. I do think that maybe you need to re-evaluate your relationship and priorities if this is as big a deal as you are making it seem 🤷🏼‍♀️

Maybe you both should just completely get rid of it then. Being that you and him have only been together for 6 months, I can’t imagine you guys are truly at the stage of marriage especially if a comment about social media has you running to us questioning what he means. I get not always being on the same page but damn. If you don’t know what he means, neither do we. You’re both wrong. He’s wrong for saying that but clearly it’s the truth and it’s up to you what you do with that truth. You’re wrong in the sense that you now are going to have hundreds of women telling you YOUR man is being sketchy.

That is so weird and a red flag. Relationships can and do exist where both people have social media, follow each other, and don’t fight about it!!! Social media is part of our world now it does no one any good to delete social media they like using every time they get in and out of relationships. If your man isn’t behaving on social media, it’s not social media’s fault it’s your man’s fault. Delete the man instead and save yourself future headaches when he just does shady things in real life instead of online.
