Ok sooo should I get him a birthday gift or not?

So I turn the big THREE OHHHH this August and my bf and I will be taking our first trip to DR together!!! His birthday is May 7th. And I took off because originally we planned a mini vacation for his birthday as well. He has since canceled and made plans for the weekends before and the weekend after his birthday which leaves me with ZERO days to take him out (we only have a sitter for weekends because that’s when I work) but I still want to get him SOMETHING for the day of but I am kind of also considering getting him absolutely nothing. I’ve gotten him things in the past that he has asked for and needed and he had never used and actually got a few of the items stolen (our car got broken into TWICE!) anywho so that throws me off from wanting to get him anything, also I asked him what he was getting me for MY birthday? (Before you all jump in and say the DR trip, I’m paying for my half so he isn’t even paying for the trip) His response was “you dragging me to this trip” I’m like wait a minute we both wanted to go to this trip. He’s like you know I’m kidding and just left it at that. Which I took it as “me being there should be enough” see id totally understand this if 1. It was just another birthday but it’s a big one and 2. If he and I were just dating, but he and I are in a serious relationship, kids, apartment, car type thing lol like buy me a birthday outfit something?!? God!!!

But yeah why put all this thought into his birthday AS I ALWAYS DO when he won’t even do it for me.
