Will sertaline 25mg cause something to happen to my baby ?? I just found out tonight and I also just got put on an antidepressant a week ago.

I was on 100 mg all throughout my pregnancy and had a healthy son. This is the most studied SSRI. If your doctor prescribed it then it’s probably because the benefits outweighed any potential risks. Your mental health is important. It helped me be the best version of myself so that I could give my baby the best care.

This is something to discuss with your doctor. I was on the same medication but a higher dose, when I spoke with my doctor she said it's one of the safer antidepressants for pregnancy, usually the one they try to put people on if they need it during pregnancy, but if I felt comfortable weaning off and I had a good support system in place she recommended that I try to come off it for the pregnancy. Many people stay on it. Really it depends on your mental state. Sometimes during pregnancy calculated risks have to be taken - in this instance, it's a calculated risk either way.

Like others have said, speak with your doctor. I was on Wellbutrin throughout pregnancy and up to now. DD is 8 months old and healthy. For me, the benefits of being on it outweighed the risks.
