Folate or folic acid?

Is folate or folic acid better in a prenatal? I’ve heard folate but want to see others thoughts!

Folate is naturally occurring. Folic acid is artificial and most people are unable to process it so your body just flushes it out. If you have the MTHFR gene mutations your body cannot process folic acid at all, even to flush it out, and it can build up and cause issues. Always take folate over folic acid.

Folate is easier to absorb and digest. It is the natural form. Folic acid is the synthetic and while cheaper it is often what makes us so sick. Also, it causes (a lot, not all) babies to be born with an extra tag of skin under the tongue causing tongue ties. I learned this after my third was born with one. My LC told me that’s why they all have them nowadays.
