37 years old, and my body’s still got it! 😁
So I’ve been a latecomer to pretty much every major life milestone - high school graduation, college, learning to handle money like a responsible adult, you name it. Marriage and children have been no exception. I got married this past November at the age of 37, and my husband and I are in the final stages of preparing for our TTC journey. I’ve been worrying and worrying that I’m too old to have children, that I’ve waited too long to get pregnant, that I won’t get the chance to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a mother. My cycles are regular, but my bbt and CM have been a lot wonkier since I started tracking them 2 months ago. Plus, my last two ovulations had short LH surges (well under 24 hours).
Then this month happened. I started using OPKs as usual around the 10th day of my cycle, despite the fact that I’ve ovulated between day 15 and day 17 in the past. So imagine my surprise when I did the test on day 13 and got the most glaringly positive reading I’ve ever seen. I tested again the next day to discover that my LH had surged even higher instead of falling, as it had in prior cycles. The surge lasted almost 2 days!

On top of that, I finally got the hang of “grabbing” my CM and found this:

Not perfect EWCM, but for my lazy, lotion-y uterus, that 2-inch stretch is amazing - my CM almost *never* stretches. I almost cried with relief when I saw it! I’m not too old, my body still functions, and I finally let myself think, “I can DO this!” There’s no reason I can’t be holding my own baby in my arms this time next year.
My 37-year-old body has still got it, ladies! 🙌🏻🎊
And I’ve never been so relieved to feel that familiar ovulation cramping in my life.
