Newborn??

Question

Can a newborn sleep in a crib? The crib will only have crib sheet and mesh bumper in it and it will be in my room. I just don’t hear about a lot of people putting a newborn straight in a crib. Opinions?

Yes you absolutely can :) but it’s recommended to not even have a mesh bumper but that’s entirely up to you mama! I don’t see much difference between a crib and a bassinet anyway 🥰

We put both of our kids right into their crib. Wasn’t gonna spend money on a bassinet that they would sleep in for maybe 4 months. And I didn’t want baby keeping both me and my husband awake being in our room. So we just go into baby’s room when he cries and take care of him in there so the other person can sleep

Yupp. My son slept in his crib in his own room since we got home from the hospital at 2 days old. He’s now almost 2 and we’ve never had an issue. I personally would never co sleep or even have my baby in my room. My husband and I need our alone time too and bedtime was perfect for that. Not to mention my husband was back to work a week after I had my son and I was back to work 6 weeks after. I didn’t need the alarm clock waking him earlier than need be or us waking him when we’d crawl into bed at night.

You can but it’s recommended to have baby in your bedroom with you until 6 months of age and up until 12 months is ideal because it reduces the risk of SIDS. I personally keep my babies in with me until around 8 months old.

We bought a portable pack n play for our room that comes w a changing table. Haven’t moved it to the bedroom yet but we did rearrange our room to hopefully fit the pack n play better.

Definitely!! That’s what they’re for! Some people just choose or have to use a smaller option such as a bassinet or pack n play due to keeping baby close and/or not having a big enough room for a crib to fit in also. But they are 100% safe to use as soon as baby comes home from hospital, as long as they follow safe sleeping standards

I used a bassinett for about a month and then she was in her crib with no bumper. It helped her sleep train better and get used to her bed....

They can but newborns just want to be held & be in small places because they had just come from one. I put our son in his crib the first night & felt like an idiot after 🤦🏼‍♀️. I bought him a bassinet the next day. Much more fitting for such a small human.
