Are prenatals worth it?

What is the outcome if you don’t take them? Is it worth taking them? Sometimes I feel like they don’t do anything but make me sick. 
I didn’t take them at all my first pregnancy and delivered 2 weeks early. She was fine though. The second I took them religiously as well as p7 shots and I ended up with preclampsia early on and had him at 32 weeks. Now I’m having a lot of Anxiety this time around.

It’s to give you back the nutrients the baby takes from you. Also folic acid is essential in preventing neural tube defects such as spina bifida. If you take enough folic acid daily you can decrease your baby having a neural tube defect by 50%.

You really should take them. The baby takes a lot of nutrients from your body to develop normally. Folate is important because it prevents certain birth defects.

Especially if you’ve had a pregnancy recently or are still breastfeeding they’re valuable for helping your body replenish the nutrients that these “extra” things take from you. Your body is really good at making sure the baby has everything it needs for the most part, but you might be left vitamin or mineral deficient. 
I am still breastfeeding my toddler and am pregnant with my second. I wasn’t as good about taking my prenatal vitamins this time as I was with my first and now I have to take iron supplements for the last 8 weeks to try and build my stores up because I’m anemic.

Try using a gummy prenatal. I found it was the only kind I could keep down, they are usually a lot easier on your tummy

I never took them with my son as each one I tried made me terribly sick. He is healthy. The thing with prenatal is it’s actually mostly for you unless you are taking them before you become pregnant. Baby will always take what it needs from you. With this second baby I have been trying to take mine but it’s hard for me still.

They usually only make me sick if I haven’t eaten before try eating a little meal then taking them I take them Bc it gives me peace of mind my baby is getting the nutrients she needs however my sister never took hers and my niece is healthy so I would just say it’s up to you I choice to Bc I think it’s the best choice for my daughter everyone is different tho.

I honestly didn’t take them with my son... But I did what I could to get the ‘nutrients’ from actual food 🤷🏻‍♀️ Prenatals definitely didn’t cause your preeclampsia.

They help you give the nutrients the baby is taking from you. If you're taking one with folic acid, iron, and calcium are to.help baby develop better. You don't necessarily have to take them if you have a healthy diet that giving you those nutrients. But its something you should speak to your doctor about.  I can promise taking prenatals wasn't the cause for your preeclampsia.
