Pumping colostrum early?

I have a question regarding pumping! I’m 39 weeks tomorrow (due April 30th), but I want a May baby 😁 with that being said I don’t want to do anything to prematurely induce labor....... but, I recently got a breast pump and I remember seeing a post from a few weeks ago about a girl who was able to pump colostrum before she gave birth and saved it for the baby. Im interested in trying this but scared the nipple stimulation will send me into labor. Plus, if I’m able to pump colostrum now, does this mean I won’t produce anymore once baby is born? First time mom here and don’t know much about the colostrum side of things. Thanks!!

As a new momma trying my darndest to make breastfeeding work, I don't suggest early pumping. If you have this extra colostrum stored, and use it in place of live feeding, you'll mess up the postpartum chemical exchange that needs to happen between baby and boob to stimulate future milk supply. Furthermore, the way you choose to give this stored colostrum to baby (bottle/syringe/cup) could cause nipple confusion. If this stored colostrum squirts into his mouth freely, he'll resist sucking the boob because it's a lot more work for him.

I doubt it will send you into early labor as with all these myths labor will only trigger when your body is ready otherwise all is overdue mummies would be pumping now! So I’d say it’s fine to try for the colostrum!

I’m also due the 30th and will likely have a May 1st baby if he doesn’t come by then. Due to swelling and horrible discomfort I’m going in for a slow induction that night.

You can hand express, it’s less aggressive than a pump and if you feel contractions I’d stop right away. It wont use up all of your colostrum as you’ll produce more. I thought of saving mine as well but I don’t think baby will really need it but it’s good if baby is in the NICU or needs extra milk and can’t latch or something. My son has latch issues but I just used a nipple shield and it worked fine. 
It’s up to you. Some women say it won’t put you into labor unless your body is ready and others say it can. So who knows. I’ll be trying to do it to induce next week before my induction. Good luck.
