Heavy Period Help?!

Okay! I’m hoping someone can ease my mind!!

I just started taking birth control again on Sunday - for the first time in like 5 or 6 years. I did the day 1 start and my period has been so much heavier than when it was when not on bc 😩 like I’m on day 3 of heavy bleeding (heavy bleeding for me at least); I typically only have two heavy days. And today I’m passing clots like crazy. - large ones! I’ve passed large clots before but not this many in one cycle. And honestly for the past 4-6 months I haven’t been passing any. I figured that was just coming with age (I just turned 38).

The did not happen when re-starting birth control in the past. Can someone please tel me this is normal?! Maybe I need to change to the mini pill or just stick with condoms 😳 I can’t handle periods like this every month!
