So I just found out I’m pregnant, a few months into preparing for deployment, I know it sounds horrible. And no it wasn’t planned. I for the love of god needed this deployment the money and the rank and I didn’t want anything to stop that, however I’m too broke to afford an abortion. At 7 weeks I had to go on a field thing but I was scheduled for an emergency appointment bc my body wasn’t comprehending all that I was going through between stress and pregnancy. I had just got evicted and I’m really out on my luck. However the unit I’m attached to for the deployment, I tried to explain to my sgt what was going on and he said none of that was more important than rifle qualification. Then when I explained to him that I couldn’t go in on that FRIDAY for drills bc of the emergency appt, he said and I quote I sympathize but you being pregnant has nothing to do with drills. When I get to drills that Friday, bc I missed the appt, I realized that this male sgt, in a predominantly male unit bc its combat, had spread my pregnancy around as a rumor and a lie, and then proceeded to say that another sgt (the only black sgt that looked out for any black private’s, so therefore we all were close) was my baby father. Then I started to hear it from all the male sgts to the point where they were talking shit about me to top and the commander. And I’m just kind of in disbelief. It’s not like I wanted my life to go to shit but now that we’re here
