Mongolian Spot??

Question

I discovered this on my baby’s bottom and wish I knew how long it’s been there. My sister said it could be something called a Mongolian Spot. I’ll be asking our Pediatrician next week at our appt but was curious if anyone else’s baby has this discoloration that looks like a bruise?

my son had a small circle on top of his bum when he was born but my 2 month old has it like yours, luckily it was documented when she was born as it really does look like a bruise

My baby was born with them too and neither of us knew what it was!!! I’m Portuguese/English/Scottish/Ukrainian and my husband is Ukrainian/German.   
From all of our questions to the family etc it ends up that the Mongolians actually invaded Ukraine during the 13th century and Genghis Khan was a pretty rapey ruler.  🤷‍♀️ we had no idea!  That’s why a lot of people of Ukrainian descent have Asian features.

I had them as an infant (I’m part Greek). They are common in Mediterranean, Black, east Indian, native American and Asian babies. 
 My son has them now but many more and some dark some lighter.  He’s half black, a little great and the rest a mix of European. He has them on his bottom, knees, shoulder blades, ankles, and back of hands. His were there at birth, not sure if mine were too. Mine disappeared as a baby and hoping his do to as he has so many. Our doctors have said they usually do go away/lighten, but not always. 
Check with your doctor to be sure but they look exactly like my sons. 
Also if you see new doctors make sure to mention up front that your little one has them. My mother was accused of child abuse back in the 80s due to a white doctor with a lack of knowledge about “ethnic” babies. Hopefully not an issue these days.

My oldest had it, she had it all the way up to age 4 before it disappeared.

Yup my baby has them and my oldest did too I was told they’re prominent in ethnic babies they will fade with time

My 2nd son has one and it just showed up after leting my sister baby sit sd o we thought it was a bruise but nope its a magnolia spot. My 1st son didnt have one
