I wanna know how all you ladies are finding your babies heartbeats at 9weeks with a Doppler. I’m so upset that I am almost 11weeks and can’t find it and I’ve tried several times... I worry that somethings wrong. I’m also heavier but can feel my pubic bone and what not it’s so frustrating and concerning me.

They’re probably listening to their own heartbeat or another sound. It takes quite a lot of practice and you really have to be trained to know what you’re looking for to be sure it’s the foetal heartbeat as even doctors and midwives are sometimes unsure which is which. Home dopplers aren’t recommended for this reason and also safety concerns. They’re banned in a lot of parts of Europe because of it so I’d not use one and just wait until your check-ups or call your midwife/doctor if you have any concerns :) x

I watched a YouTube video on how to do it and I used Doppler’s at my work. Biggest thing that helped me was laying down completely flat and then putting a pillow or something under my hips so they are tilted. It took me several tries to find it. The first time was very frustrating. Now I know the general area so I can go to it easily. Sometimes it’s faint and hard to hear because I can hear my low slow pulse over the top of the baby’s faster quieter one.

I was sad my ob couldn’t find the heartbeat at 10w. 9w is early to heat a heartbeat with a Doppler and lots of women can’t!!

Make sure you have a full bladder, start low and go slow.  I’m 16 weeks and just now finding the heartbeat higher (right below my belly button) but it was right below my panty line yet at 11 weeks.  If you move too fast while looking, you’ll miss it.  I have an anterior placenta so I hear that first but if I hold still a few seconds, then I’ll hear baby behind it.

Try to angle the probe under your pubic bone. I watched a video on youtube and I was searching way to high.

Baby is real low and snuggled down below your pubic bone until after 12 weeks. Try not to stress too much- you’ll hear that heartbeat soon enough mama :) I don’t think I found mine at home till around 13 weeks 💕
