how late is too late?

im on combination birth control and i know that its not really necessary to take it at the same time every day as long as i remember to take it at some point. im on the third day of a brand new pack, the last two days ive taken it around 5 or 6, but today i forgot and didnt take it until almost midnight. so my question is, how late is too late, or how many hours have to pass before its considered a missed pill? im probably going to use backup protection no matter what but i cant find any answers on google so if anyone could answer this it’d be appreciated:)
