Would you be annoyed?

Question

My daughter (M) is 3 months older than her cousin (D) 
My MIL was telling her MIL (and I quote) "M is 3 months older than D and D is SO much smarter than M"
...... Right in front of my face like I'm supposed to agree with her. She tells people this all the time and even tries to convince me. 
M and D are on the level, sure D is a little more talkative than M (D went to daycare,  M didn't) 
I don't even know what to say in this situation. Any advice?

I would definitely be annoyed. I hate when people compare children. There were things my daughter was not on track with and others she was advanced. She didn't walk until after her first birthday, she just wasn't interested because she could crawl there faster. But she knew her shapes and colours and could say her ABCs well before the "average" age.🤷‍♀️ And yes, kids who go to daycare are more likely to be more verbal because not only are they around other kids, they also have to use their words to get their needs met, that's just logical. I could tell you my kid is hungry, has to pee, or she's bored just by looking at her because I'm around her all the time. Hell, she's almost 6 and she still signs when she's hungry because she knows she doesn't have to say a word. You might want to try teaching M how to they might be really into it and it really is a fun way to communicate because they can use their hands.

If someone said that to me, I would say, “and? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Add the fact that children’s development at such a young age is usually irrelevant to how they’ll turn out in the future. Who’s to say the younger baby ends up failing school and not being intelligent at all as an older kid? It’s just so beyond irrelevant that she’s obviously trying to be a bitch.

I put a picture of my 37 week ultrasound along with a sweet post about being so exited to welcome our second son soon. All my mil said about it was 'damn he's got a big head" 😵🙄😡 She's not a very maternal person at all. It's ridiculous.

My youngest is completely different than her older siblings and she is extremely intelligent, just doesn't like to talk much! She knows her colors, is learning shapes and ran instead of crawling first lol! People are ignorant and honestly it seems like your MIL is not the sharpest crayon in the box, I would tell her that those comments are hurtful and untrue and that she really needs to stop because it makes her look like an asshole. Other than that, take it with a grain of salt, YOU know your child is amazing and you will continue to help them grow and be a strong and intelligent human being!

I was around 20 when my uncle had a kid. I've always been a little jealous because right away she was already getting thousands more praise and love then me. When she was like 2 or 3 my great uncles gf compared me to her and it pissed me off so much because I'm way older than my cousin.
