After you had baby did you still let pet on furniture

We have a German Shepherd That’s my boyfriend. we are expecting twins and I can’t stand all the dog hair, (I know that comes w owning a dog) but it’s just a crazy amount that I have to clean up everyday... I already do not like the dog on the furniture and when the babies come I do not want him on the bed or couch I don’t want the babies choking on the dog hair, getting on their clothes, laying in it. Huge no!! How do I tell my boyfriend I don’t want the dog up on furniture w out him getting mad about it?? The dog is like his baby.. advice please
