Are Christopher McNabb and Courtney Bell responsible for their baby’s death?

I’ve been watching this trial because it all happened not too far from where I live.

So to sum it up, the mother (Courtney Bell) called 911 reporting her 2 week old baby missing. She says their other child (2 yr old) woke them up and said the baby was gone. When the police got there the baby’s father was gone. She’s says he was looking for the baby. She had two black eyes when they arrived that she had for a couple days prior as well, most people are drawing the conclusion that Chris was physically abusive towards her... anyways, the baby was missing for a day. When they found the baby she was deceased and wrapped up in a blanket a few yards from their mobile home. She sustained EXTENSIVE head trauma. But otherwise no sign of abuse prior to her death, although she was slightly underweight compared to her birth weight.

Christopher and Courtney are meth users and had left their newborn with a family member for a couple days without telling the family member where they were going, all within the baby’s short life. Allegedly when they got the call that the baby was found Christopher took off running, which caused a search for him since they wanted to interview everyone involved. Family members also say that she was a very good mom and had a lot going on in her life at the time and were glad to help care for the children since they were pretty sure the mother (Courtney) was being physically abused by the father of the baby (Christopher).

I’m still not sure what I think. It’s HIGHLY unlikely someone just took a baby to kill it brutally and bury it nearby. It’s also highly unlikely their two year old did it (which is the reasonable doubt the defense is trying to set up).
