Has anyone ever felt empty or alone, even when they are in a relationship?

I've been with my boyfriend for 7 years now, but he doesn't give me the attention that I want or need... I've felt very empty and it's hard for me to understand if I'm falling out of love with him or just depressed about how my life is going... so please take my poll or comment if you have a similar issue...

No partner can meet your social needs or make you feel less empty. They can distract you from it in a wonderful way, and support you as they should. When things settle down though you still have all your same personal issues. I’ve realized this past year how very important my female friendships are to keeping me sane.
I am happily married and love my husband but I struggle with loneliness too. Its like he doesn’t “count” towards my social battery because we are just that close. He is amazing and always there for me, but I have to maintain my own friendships to stay healthy. Asking him to fill that role for me puts a lot of strain on him and in the end could brake a relationship.

I think after being together for so long, you can just kind of get so used to each other that it doesn’t feel the same anymore. It could also be your depression too tho. I would try to talk to him openly about your feelings. Good luck

I had a similar issue and realized it was because I have a hard time connecting with people after a certain period of time. Growing up I spent a lot of time alone and didnt get the TLC i deserved from my parents. “Friends” came in and out of my life so stable relationships were something I never learned. You should ask yourself, even though you’ve been together a significant amount of time, if there was a change in energy in the relationship recently or maybe you’re craving something from life and need to search inside on what it could be. I would confide in your spouse also, although it feels like you aren’t as close rn so he can maybe spare some insight as well. Im rooting for you!
