I really don’t think this is a yes or no question. There is a whole lot of missing information. When therapists talk to couples about this they have them evaluate the relationship and also the individual’s attitudes/feelings. I think I understand where this might be coming from... and I’d say don’t worry about the perceptions of other people. People are fake and act like they know how they would handle a certain situation because they picture it in only one way, and when it comes to cheating, everyone doesn’t think their partner would ever cheat on them. Also a lot of people have crap attitudes toward relationships in general. Their idea of what partnership is and looks like one thing, and their behavior and obsession with themselves says another.

Why would you want to take him back? Will you ever trust him? Can you get over that he completely disrespected you like that, and lied?

No. There are couples who decide to work things out and it does work out. Maybe it isn’t the majority, but it does happen. And I don’t think they are stupid.
