Am I overreacting with MIL?

Question

My husband and I are ttc.  He made the mistake of mentioning this to his mother.  Now I cant take a sip of alcohol, mention the word baby or basically blink without her making a baby comment.  
To his 5 year old niece at Easter, "Just think, next year you're going to have a baby cousin for Easter."
On Mother's Day, "Next year will be your 1st mothers say."  Repeated several times.
I told him he needs to tell her to stop before I do.  We are in our late 30s.  I know it's not going to happen overnight and everytime she makes a comment it adds more pressure and almost makes me feel like she's jinxing us.  
He doesnt want to hurt her and he thinks she's just excited but he doesnt realize how much it hurts me.  Am I overreacting or being oversensitive?  I'm sorry I just think she should keep her comments to herself or at least make them to him not me.

I’m with you. You are not overreacting. TTC is stressful enough without her or anyone making so many comments and putting extra pressure on you.

She probably is just excited and happy for you two. She probably doesn't realize how her comments are making you feel. You should say something to her in a nice respectful manner before it builds and you just explode on her and hurt her feelings and damage your relationship.

My in laws were just like that. We’ve been married 5 years and they were incessantly asking when we were going to have kids. My mother in law started asking if I even wanted kids and asked my husband if I was keeping us from having a family. We tried for nearly a year meanwhile her daughter got pregnant just thinking about babies. I shed so many tears with them oblivious to how much they were hurting us. Around 8 months my husband ripped his sister a new one because she was being such a beast and kept saying that we needed to hurry up and have kids so her kid had someone to play with - her baby was 1. She finally backed off for awhile and we got pregnant a few months later but because they had been so awful we waited until we were almost 18 weeks to tell them. I would have waited longer if I could have and they will be the last ones to know the baby has been born. Yes I’m petty like that but my husband agrees

You are not overreacting. I would feel the same. Even if you are not hurt by it, it’s just plain annoying in my opinion 🤦🏻‍♀️ we knew this lady at our church who would ask us every time she saw us “are you pregnant yet?” She started asking that right after we got married. I finally told her “when I get pregnant we will tell you”. She never asked again. 
She is probably excited but that doesn’t make it not hurt or less annoying. Maybe pull her to the side and let her know it bothers you and if she could keep it to herself because you don’t want everyone knowing. If it still doesn’t work your husband should say something (in my opinion)

My mom does the same thing and she doesn’t even know I’m pregnant yet, or that we were trying. She’s always making comments and patting my belly...like back off you’re going to ruin a surprise. When I was buying a bridesmaids dress a few months ago she kind of freaked out and goes “what if you’re pregnant at the wedding, did you buy a bigger dress?” All that when I hadn’t even told her or hinted that we were trying. So annoying 🙄

I’d be upset to.  I would just sit her down and have a polite but frank conversation and let her know you appreciate the enthusiasm, but back off.  Or lie and tell her you’ve had to put trying on hold for the next year.  Either way, you get some peace.

I’d be pissed too. I’d tell him again that if he doesn’t say something to her you will and if he makes you be the one to address her you won’t be as nice as he would. This is the exact reason I didn’t tell anyone.

I snapped at my father in law's girlfriend a few weeks ago..every time I see her she asks if we're pregnant yet. And I told my husband the next time she says something I'm not going to ignore her. I told her, "it's not easy for everyone to get pregnant and it's a little insensitive that you keep asking me. When I'm pregnant and ready to announce it, you will be aware". Mic drop.. she said nothing else and walked away.
