Long distance baby shower?

Last year we moved 1,100 miles away from my husband and my entire family for an amazing job offer. I’m now 5 months pregnant with our first biological child (we adopted 3 older children 3 years ago). I can’t travel due to the pregnancy being high risk. Is an online or long distance baby shower tacky?

We have a friend that had to go to a hospital far away and had friends in all different states. She had a virtual shower and it was a lot of fun. A friend planned it and had it take place over a few days. She had games for everyone to play to win prizes. They also took pictures and videos of gifts that they received. Not tacky at all because it’s a reality that not everyone lives near family and friends.

I’ve never heard of an online baby shower. As far as it being long distance, explain the situation then see who’d be willing to travel that far to help celebrate. 
OR have gifts mailed to you instead, then host an actual baby shower after she/he is born.

My first child, this is exactly what we did. Found adorable invites/announcements on Pinterest and people could send gifts and then the day if we Skyped everyone in!
Made it still feel special, even though everyone was far away ❤️

I'd say do a shower where you're at. Invite everyone you want.  Then do a live stream during your shower for a couple games and the gift opening. Include the live stream info in the invites. That way if they want to be there for it that can be in one way or another.  And if you register on Amazon it'll be super easy for peo ppl to send gifts.
