What’s done at your first prenatal visit ?

Hi, I’ll be 9 weeks at my first visit with the doctor. What will be done ? Any advise ? Will I hear the baby’s heartbeat ?

You don't always get an ultrasound at your first appointment, and if you do you don't always hear the heartbeat either, you might just see it. You also don't always get blood work your first appointment. None of that happened at my first appointment. I went over my background, peed in a cup, and set up another appointment, which was bloodwork and an abdominal ultrasound, and they showed me the heartbeat. So ask your doctor, because it depends on them. They're all different

At my first actual visit with the doctor I was 11 weeks and we went over things and he checked for the heartbeat with a Doppler. He ordered my 12 week ultrasound and my genetic testing. However I had an initial visit at 5w with the nurse and we went over family history and the do’s and don’ts.

First congratulations happy and healthy pregnancy. You will have to pee in a cup and hand it to the nurse. Than they will take you to a room where the Doctor, will perform an ultrasound vaginally. Yes you will hear the baby’s heartbeat. After everything is done they, will send you to a lab to get blood drawn to check hug levels and etc.

family medical history of infections/diseases/miscarries, ectopics or tubulars. they waited till my 2nd visit to take my blood but us a possibility, they will do an ultrasound and a pelvic exam and boob exam, take a urine sample, they will measure your baby and measure the babies heartrate!

My OB did all of the questions and initial counseling over the phone with a nurse before my visit.  At my visit, I peed in a cup and had a transvaginal ultrasound, where they did measurements and found the heartbeat.  I go back for bloodwork in about a week so I’ll be far enough along to do NIPT.
