Fostering and adoption

Ok so I have been looking into foster care for a few weeks not and it is something that I feel that I want to do. One of my set backs is my SO is not exactly on board. He is very convinced that he does not want to take in a child of a different race cause he doesn’t want to answer any questions about it and he doesn’t want to have children with disabilities. He is very convinced that we will just have our own kids. We have been trying for some time so I brought up the inevitable what if. He suddenly didn’t say anything. Every time I bring it up he avoids the topic. Do any of you have experience with adopting or fostering children? Any advice?
