Advice- breadwinner

Suzzy

I have been married for 7 years and we have a child and expecting another in November. We live in the U.K. I have been my husbands sponser on spouse visa for the last 5 years I have always been the breadwinner as I make the most money, most bills and expenses come out of my account. Now that he has permanent residency I feel like I don’t need to be the one working my ass off. I want to go on maternity leave for a year to focus on my children. My first daughter has autism and I went back to work when she was 5 month because I couldn’t afford to stay on maternity leave longer

I’m considering transferring some of my bills to my husband so he can start paying and take more ownership. I’m tired of being the one to fork out more, being relied upon. I have been trying to get him to look for a job that pays more money but he doesn’t seem interested.

I want him to know what it’s like to be financially responsible for everything else.

Right now he pays for gas and electric. & food. He does give me money freely if I

ask him.

I pay for everything else.

God forbid if anything happened to me, I’m afraid he wouldn’t know what to do with our children or himself financially.

Am I wrong for asking this of him?
