My boyfriend is 18 and joining the marines, and i’m so proud of him and how committed he is and the direction he’s taking in life, which is the opposite from where he once was at the beginning of our relationship.

i love him with my whole heart and i’d support him through anything, and im glad he’s taking a step for his future.

we’ve been together for a long time, but he’s going to be away for practically 5 months until he graduates from boot camp and joins the reserves, thinking about him being gone for so long is so hard.

It breaks my heart knowing we’re going to be apart for that amount of time. I know it will be okay in the end, i’m sticking with him through it all but at the same time it’s going to be hard, and im worried he might not wanna stick with me afterwards.

Any ladies with a man in the marines/army/air force/ect that can give me some advice and tell me a bit about their experience to help me ease my mind?
