My May 19 Birth

I was due May 10, on May 18 we had a barbecue with my sister in law, her husband and their 6 month old son. I was grumpy and 8 days late and just wanted to meet our little girl.
Around 6 my sister in law asked me and my husband if we wanted to go to the Casino. I said sure and started washing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen from our bbq so we could be ready to go. While I was watching the dishes contractions started. I had been having contractions for about 2 weeks off and on, so I blew them off as nothing and didn’t say anything. My sister in law eventually noticed me wincing and asked if I was having contractions, I told her yes, and she started timing. It was the first time contractions continued regularly after I started timing.
We timed them for about an hour before I decided we probably shouldn’t go to the casino. My sister in law and her husband left and my husband and I sat down to watch a movie (around 8:30 pm). We watched The DaVinci Code. About an hour intro the movie, I realized I couldn’t focus on the movie at all, the contractions were taking my attention away. I texted my mom and told her that I thought that night would be the night. By 10:30 I told my husband I wanted to go into the hospital.
When we got there, they hooked me up to a monitor and saw that I was contracting, baby girls heart rate decelerated when they hooked me up, so they had me get into all different positions - I was panicking but very glad we went in. They decided to give me fluid through the IV and monitor us overnight - I was only 2cm so they assumed they would be sending me home in the morning, so long as baby girl was looking good. They gave me Tylenol and ambien and told me and my husband to get some sleep, my mom decided to go home so she could get some sleep too.
About 2 hours later, I felt a huge gush of fluid, and then a few more. My water had broken. I knew they weren’t going to send me home after that, so I texted my mom and she headed back to the hospital.
Labor progressed quickly from there. My mom helped, as did my husband. Around 3:30am I decided to try laboring in the bathtub it worked for a little while, but not very long. Around 4 am I asked them to check me again. My mom thought I was in transition- I guessed I was around 5. I decided hat if I was still at 5cm, I was going to get Newbane (sp?) in my IV- it is a partial narcotic, it was amazing- it allowed me to sleep between contractions while still feeling the intensity of the contractions when they happened. I knew I didn’t want an epidural, so the newbane was my only option. It was fantastic!! It allowed me to progress quickly as well! Before I knew it, it was 8am and I was 10 cm and ready to push.
I pushed for 2.5 hours and my baby girl was born at 10:24 am on my brothers birthday. (My brother had been born at 10:43, so beating his birth time was the last push I needed). Pushing was by far the most difficult part of labor for me. It felt like I had to push, but it was hard to tell where. I was absolutely exhausted, my husband was amazing at giving me ice chips between pushes (I’ve never wanted ice chips so badly). That ring of fire is no joke! I was able to pull my baby girl the rest of the way out once I got her shoulders out and my husband cut the cord. I didn’t tear at all- and needed one stitch for a burst artery in my vaginal canal.
My baby girl Maizie Elise Delcourt, born on May 19, 2019, 9 days past her due date.
She weighed 7lbs 5oz at birth and was 19.5 inches long. She got a 9 and a 9 on her APGAR. She is amazing!! I can’t believe how in love we are!
