Baby monitors?

Question

Is anyone else thinking about just going with the more old school audio baby monitors? It seems like most people stick to the video ones nowadays, but I've been considering saving some money in that area as the budget is pretty tight and I have other things I'd like to spend the money on.  We're planning on sharing a room for the better part of the first year, so 🤷‍♀️  I'm sure the video one would be nice, but just curious about anyone's experience with the others 🙂

I'm not concerned about hacking- I don't even have wifi.  My baby will be with me pretty much all the time and so I'm thinking of going the cheaper route, and am wondering if you guys have any recommendations.  Thank you!

We have a video one. It's not super fancy but I like to be able to check on him without going into his room. People can only hack the video monitors that connect to wifi, btw. Ours does not use wifi.

The video monitors actually make me more nervous😖 I don’t have a kid yet but the boy I nanny had one and it made me check on him sooo much when he was literally only in the next room🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m not getting any baby monitor for my house. We only have one floor and I should hear the baby no matter where I am. Also if you are practicing all the safe sleeping protocols I don’t think it’s necessary🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a vid monitor that doesn’t connect to the WiFi so it can’t be hacked.  My sister had the same one and I LOVE it.  I get so much anxiety with my babies that it’ll help calm me so much.  Plus, with those, you can put it on silent and watch baby instead of having all the static.  Mine also lights up when there is noise so the sound doesn’t have to be on and I can just set it next to the tv if I’m laying down and see what’s going on.

I have used both they have cheaper video ones that arent to exspeive, mine wasnt and not facy just make sure have night vison that all i lik it better because there been to many to that my daughter or son could of got hurt especially with there legs being stuck or if u see them rool on there face

I personally like to see baby just Incase he escapes his swaddle. Especially when he starts rolling over so i can better make sure he’s okay
