Is a double date appropriate for a first date?

My boyfriends twin brother recently had asked out a girl and had asked for me and his twin to double with him. As twins they have always been really close and have pretty much always done everything together, so it’s not much of a shocker that he asked us both to tag along. We agreed but now I’m wondering if it’s a good idea. 
The date is at the movies by the way and my boyfriend and have been together for a little over a year.

That's how I met my husband. We were actually really the "wingmen" lol but 11 years later we're still together , married and currently pregnant while they didn't see each other after the first date and we are no longer friends with them 😆 (so much drama)

As a twin my self its probably a lot better for him, itll probably make him a lot more comfortable with his twin there

My first ever date was with both my best friends at the time there with their SO's. It makes it less awkward and helps you get to know the person you're on a date with a little easier
