Confused

So i took a pregnancy test friday and came back positive Saturday as well. Took another one Tuesday and the line was lighter. Yesterday morning started spotting, few hours later it got heavy . Today i went to my obgyn and said the it could be a false positive since we make higher hcg close to our period. She took my blood to check for hcg levels and will call me when its ready. I have never experienced anything like this before. Could she be right ?
