Regular Midwife visit turning into Preclampsia/ Induction

Tavia

** Long Birth Story**

My LO was due May 21st, I honestly thought he was going to be a week late from that, but boy was I wrong!! May 13th was my sisters Bday and my day was jam packed with stuff for her. But first thing that morning was a regular checkup with my midwife. My hubby came with me because we had a ultrasound too to see how baby was growing because I was running small. Ultrasound went all well and then I met with my midwife.

The nurse checked my blood pressure had a strange look on her face then checked it again. That’s when I knew something was wrong. She said Midwife would be in soon and she would talk to us. I jokingly turn to my hubby and say “ watch me have preeclampsia and have to have the baby today ” I was totally joking! I even had to explain to him what it was. Sure enough I did! My midwife said to come back in a couple hours and if BP was high again I would have to get induced that day. But to pack bags because it was more then likely.

I went about my day because I was in such shock. I even went to brunch!! Sure enough when I went back I had to get induced.

18hrs of strong contractions and feeling like crap due to magnesium drip, I lost track of time they were blinding. But my family and hubby were there supporting me. Finally the next morning after induction I had to get a ballon inserted because the meds werent working.. We had to switch from a midwife to a DR at that point because no progress and staff was preparing me mentally for C section. Then all of a sudden I feel the urge to poop! As soon as I say that my nurse who is advocating for my all natural birth says do you want me to check to see if you’re dilated. So she goes to check the ballon and it flys out! From that point on I’m dilating so fast. Dr isn’t even there! But my nurses are ready and let me do what my body is telling me. Finally DR gets there and I am ready to push. After about 5 min or less of pushing I hear dr say his heart beat is down due to cord wrapping around his neck, and I need these to be my final pushes. So I hunker down and push so hard. 4 pushes later and my beautiful baby is set on my chest.

I am so proud of myself it was the most scary/surprising/stressful scenario but I stayed soo calm with the support of family, hospital staff and most of all my hubby. So I got an all natural vaginal birth like I wanted! All the staff commented on how calm I was throughout the whole time and that made me feel soo good.

So blessed to have my boy Remi Ollie 5/14/19 6lbs 19”
