Unable to concentrate.
Hi all,
My son is 21 months old this month and says and understands very little.
So, I took him to a speech pathologist, and she believes that he can’t speak or understand because he doesn’t listen when he’s doing something else, or there’s too much going on around him. He can’t sit still long enough to concentrate and learn. He gets very easily distracted.
Autism and hearing loss has been ruled out. I suspect ADHD like his Dad, but that can’t be diagnosed until school age.
Over the next week, I have to wait for a report from the speech pathologist before I can make another appointment. So in the meantime, I’m wondering how on Earth can I get my son to sit still and concentrate?
At the speech pathologists office, he was so fidgety and couldn’t stop going from one toy to another, but when she put everything but one toy away, he calmed down so much, and concentrated merely on that. But I don’t know how to go about locking away his stuff at home. Her office was so small!
Any ideas? Tips? Experience?
