For 9 months, I carried you

It took you all of 2 hours to come into the world

Your heart rate kept dropping

I was terrified

I thought I was going to lose you

But you came out beautifully healthy

I tried to breastfeed you, but you couldn’t latch

It broke my heart

Sleepless nights staring at you over your bassinet

Fearing that if I closed my eyes, anything would happen

I needed a break, but didn’t trust a soul

Your smile means EVERYTHING to me

It makes my heart happy

Nights when you’re screaming and daddy tries to comfort you

As soon as you get into my arms, you’re calm

The way you hold my face when I give you kisses

How sweet you are to hold my finger to go to bed

When you look for my face in the morning and smile when you finally see it

You love me despite the morning breath, messy hair, still swollen tummy and dirty glasses

I love you despite how hard you fight to go night night, how many times you poop outside the diaper, how often you scratch me on the nose

Everything I’ve done for you, I’d do it again in a heartbeat

You’ve changed my life forever and I’ll forever love you for that 💕
