Let’s debate!! Being a vegan are you for or against vaccines?

Question

Considering there’s a big rise problem in the USA with vaccines being forced on people mostly kids and medical exemptions being taken away from parents. Would you still being a vegan vaccinated yourself and your kids knowing some vaccines contain animal cells? This is an open place to debate but no bad words and insults please. Let’s keep it mind open and respectful.

Yes I would. Part of me is impressed that modern medicine has made so many people feel like vaccines are not necessary because so many recent generations haven't witness the devastating effects of these illnesses, but my family has still witnessed several of these deadly diseases firsthand and frankly I don't consider that a game to want to fuck around with.
Additionally, I do not consider vaccinations to fall into the realm of "personal choice", as infants, the immunocompromised, and the allergic are forced to rely on their community's herd immunity and depend on us to protect their health. Therefore, since they could be harmed through such decisionmaking...

It makes sense, as a vegan, to support and advocate vaccination. As for the animal ingredient aspect of it, I'm very sure that we would all love it if none of our medications required no animal testing or animal ingredients, and I think we should advocate for changes to be made to these common practices. However, until then, for the same reasons I would not deny a diabetic the use if pig-borne insulin in order to survive (due to circumstances, availability, etc), I'm certainly not going to suggest people do not vaccinate because of animal cells in vaccines. No one should ask us to die for the cause, especially when we'd be much more useful to the movement alive and healthy.

Being vegan is a journey, not a destination. It is not about purity, it’s about taking care of the most vulnerable among us. Vaccinating does just that, so it’s very in line with my vegan values. We also cannot be good advocates for the animals if we are sick or dead. 💚
I look forward to the day that there are cruelty-free vaccines and medications, and will happily choose those options over the more traditional ones.

Literally no medicine approved by fda is vegan technically as it’s all been tested on animals. As with any other groups of people there are those for and those against vaccines and mostly people are for some against others. I don’t have a problem taking a medicine that would cure an illness or save my life, it would be great to have vegan fda approved meds but unfortunately we are not there yet.

I’m a bit confused by the wording of the pole, but I’m very for vaccines. They are exceptionally safe and the diseases they give you resistance to caused the deaths of countless children over time. 
Even if you’re on the side of “big pharmacy pushing vaccines” the money they make on vaccines is pennies compared to the amounts they make on chronic conditions like heart medications and diabetes treatment. Both of which are (usually) tied to diet. They have a lot more to gain in keeping you alive and unhealthy than giving you a shot every few years as a youngster.

First of all, i can be for some vaccines and against others. Vaccines should not really be grouped together and deemed bad or good in general! That's very short sighted!
Im more of a flexible vegan/mostly vegan now, although diehard vegetarian 16 yrs now.
I think you health, and by extension, the health of others should be prioritized over being perfect in veganism or vegetarianism. 
If you have a condition which makes it harder to go vegan, just compromise, either don't go vegan, or do it slowly, however is healthiest for you. Itshouldn't be all or nothing. Everything we do for the animals counts. Do what you can! We don't have to expect perfection from everyone. That's really destructive to the ultimate goals of veganism.
So, definitely, I would be vaccinated willingly or have children vaccinated if I was ever to be a parent. 
However, if i found a specific vaccine was too unnecessary or too new on the market or was proven to be questionable or dangerous, I would do my research and perhaps skip it.
I don't get the flu vaccine for instance, for me at the moment, it is unnecessary, but I almost got it when I was very ill and underweight because of undiagnosed food allergies. I was 78lbs & the flu probably could have actually killed me.
I think health should be prioritized over being perfectly vegan, in vaccines and medications, however I think we should look for ways to communicate we want vegan alternatives to whatever medical treatments we can, that should be more political actionand raising awareness, than trying to get individuals to boycott nonvegan drugs & treatments they may need for their health!

I don't get the point of flu shots etc but I have had all the important vaccines as a child and will make sure my kid has them too. Been vegan for a few years now and before that a vegetarian for about a decade. Not eating animal products shouldn't make us stupid, so there's that.

Nope, we are all vegan and we do not vaxx our 3 daughters. There is no scientific proof that they actually work. However, I would like to clarify that we were pro vaxx when our oldest was a baby. The more I we research, the more we realized they haven't even done a placebo trial. They push vaccines on pregnant women and the inserts even say not to do it if pregnant. Also, they are adding "may cause Sids" to inserts.
