How much and how often?

How many ounces and how often does your baby eat? Bf of formula? How many weeks? 
My babe is 8 weeks, breastfed (some supplementing sometimes) & eats every 2-3 hours. More-so every 2.5 hours & I really want to stretch the feedings. When he gets a bottle, he drinks 4 oz. I’m wondering if he isn’t getting a full feeding when I BF? I surely don’t pump 4 oz every time I pump.

9 weeks ebf every 2 hours during the day. At night we get 4/5hrs for the first stretch then 2/3 the rest. If your baby is having plenty of wet diapers and growing steadily then they are getting enough. Everyone worries about oz but it is totally different when it comes to breastfeeding.

Formula feeding is based on weight and time between feedings. The chart below gives the formula to calculate it and a few examples. 
Breast feeding is very dependent on whether it’s the time of day they tend to snack vs cluster feed etc. 3-4 ounces at that age is normal. The interesting thing is that as he gets older though the amount of ounces needed of expressed milk will still be very similar. Your body will just increase the caloric value of it so don’t use the formula chart to assume how much breastmilk is needed. 😃

12 weeks, breastfed. She eats for 10-15 minutes, 7-8 times per day. The few times I have fed her pumped milk, she eats anywhere from 2-5oz in a feeding, usually around 3.5oz.

You can find out this info from your health visitor or from doing an online search. If I’ve remembered correctly a BF newborn should get around 60ml per feed and shouldn’t go more then 3 hours without a feed but most need to feed more often than that :) x

4-6 oz depending on him. If he eats 4 he will eat every 3 hours. When he eats 6oz he will sleep close to 8 hours at night.

Baby is 11 weeks. Eats from a bottle only if I am at doctors appointment and dad has to watch him. Breast milk only. Usually 4 Oz -5 Oz. 
It is easy to give your baby more than he actually needs from the bottle. He doesn’t need to work hard to get the milk out of the bottle nipple and so it flows faster.
