Timing during birth

I’ve noticed almost every birth story has a timeline of events down to the minute. How do you keep track of what’s going on at what time when you are in the middle of having a baby?

When I gave birth to my son, I wasn’t really paying attention to the time, I was just trying to get through the labor and birth him from my body lol. I’m currently 36+1 with my second and would like to try to remember the details like the time of events, but I don’t know how... do I bring a notebook and write it all down or use a voice recorder and tell myself notes to later write down? How do you all do it?
