Trouble with EBF baby taking bottle from Dad at bed time?

Help! We are trying to give our LO a bottle before bed each night. I have had my husband try a few times, but she ends up in a screaming fit. Poor husband feels as though he is doing something wrong! She will take a bottle at anytime during the day from anyone. Any tips? I don’t want my husband to feel as though he isn’t capable of caring for our LO when I am away!

Maybe give a shirt you’ve worn to your baby when he’s feeding?

I make sure he is letting the baby grab the nipple. My husband had a tensancy to just put the nipple in the babys mouth and he would flip out. He would make gagging noises. Not sure if that's helpful for what you're encountering. We also noticed he likes certain nipple types better than others.

Which bottles are you using? We used tommy tippee with our first and my lactation consultant this round told me those are actually really difficult for baby’s to latch onto properly.
We’re using dr brown this round and she’s never seemed to mind.
I agree the skin to skin helps. My husband holds onto our daughter on and off for 3-5 hours everynignt and she’s grown to like him more and more to where he can actually calm her down by his scent or the way he rocks.

I've heard of they try to feed the baby with the bottle as if they're breastfeeding, like q breastfeedinf position, people tend to have more success. My first baby would chew on the nipple for 15 minutes to get milk out for the first few times. This second baby seem to be okay with taking it.

I would recommend some of what others have said about baby choosing the nipple vs forcing it in and if all else fails to have a shirt that you’ve worn nearby, but before trying that I’d suggest dad do skin to skin with baby. Based on our Peds advice my hubby did 30 mins skin to skin with the last 2 of our kiddos daily and it helped them bond immensely!

Also this is another tip from my IBCLC is to hold the bottle down and the point closest to the nipple. Not what would be the bottom of the bottle as most people tend to do. Seems simple but helps. I always have hubby hold the ring the nipple goes into and helps my son get a better latch and less gas

Maybe try a different time to ease into it? Is he home to do the feeding before or the first one in the morning? My baby is pretty cranky and intolerant just before bedtime.
